01. Choose the right outfit in advance
These headshots may stay with you (and on your LinkedIn profile) for years so its worth spending a few minutes thinking about what outfits best represent you. Solid colours are always a great choice. You can go for a classic palette or something that more showcases your personality. Bring a few options to the shoot and we will help to decide on the best options. If you are after full length or 3/4 length shots then do think about the whole outfit including shoes!
02. Does your company have specific guidelines?
If you are staying with your current employer, find out if they have specific guidelines for how your headshots should look (either for the company webpage or for LinkedIn profiles). Some have no guidelines while others ask that you are facing a specific way, wearing a specific colour and that we add a specific background to the image. Best to know before you have your shoot. If we work with your company, we will know these guidelines already.
03. Bring a few outfits for your shoot
Its always best to pack a couple of outfit choices so we can pick what works best for you. Ideally a couple of jackets, different ties if you wear one and some different tops. Different looks give you more variety for using not only in your LinkedIn profile but across different platforms.
04. Practice expressions (We know it's a bit crazy!)
Most people are not in front of the camera every day. It can take a while to get used to appearing natural. Especially in a short session. Spend a few minutes in front of a mirror trying different smiles and relaxed expressions. This will help you feel more confident on the day and make it easier to capture a friendly, approachable look.
05 . Rest Well the Night Before
It my seem obvious but a good night’s sleep before your shoot will help you look fresh and energised, and reduce the chance of under-eye shadows or puffiness (of course Photoshop is an amazing tool and we can help with blemishes, tiredness and other areas to ensure you looks your best!).
